My introduction to Anime

In 2020 in lockdown i discovered anime as a way to escape the reality of the chaos of the situation that the world so happened to find itself in, so what is anime? Anime is a style of animation that originates in Japan it often has colourful graphics and action filled plots and hits of the theme of magical realism but can come in the form of lots of different genres. The first Anime that I came across was Attack on Titan written by “Hajime Isayama” a Japanese author and illustrator. This anime shows a boy Eren Yeager who has been trapped within walls all of his life discovering the truth about the world and how his universe has come to be the way it has whilst working to claim land with his nations army the “survey corps” fighting against large monsters that haunt their people called “Titans”. After discovering and really enjoying this Anime I was inspired to read the original manga that it was written from this is were I was inspired to create comics and fantasy story’s leading to were I am as an illustrator today. I think this really tells a story of how incredible inspiring Manga and anime can be and the importance of being able to escape into a fantasy world and how this can be a great distraction from complicated ongoings and the magic of letting yourself become immersed in a story. After this I went on to enjoy many more anime’s some of my favourites being, Chainsaw Man, Jujitsu Kaisen, Jojos Bizarre Adventure, Kakagurui and manny more. It’s also lead me to create friends with common interests even to this day and see the effect that anime has been a huge influence to them as well an example of this being my friend trinity who I loved to share and appreciate fan art from different anime’s with.
